Las Chimeneas shortlisted for best ‘Food & Travel’ book!

We were thrilled to find out, in late spring 2017, that Las Chimeneas – the first book from Casita Press – had been shortlisted for the ‘Food & Travel’ category of the prestigious Guild of Food Writers Awards. Thrilled but also a little intimated, as this category also included the latest (Bloomsbury) title from esteemed food writer Fuchsia Dunlop, one of the heavyweights of contemporary food writing. Authors David and Emma Illsley, designers Russ Whittle and Bianca Baldacci and I all went along to the classy ceremony at Oval Space in Bethnal Green on 22 June, where we rubbed shoulders with the beau monde of food publishing, while enjoying an ever-flowing supply of wine and platefuls of the best canapés we’ve had in our lives (it would’ve been rude not to). We didn’t win – that honour went to the third nominee, the beautiful book Samarkand (Kyle Books) by Caroline Eden and Eleanor Ford – but we were delighted to have been shortlisted. It’s always so satisfying to be recognised by your peers, afterall, and especially for a project that was such a labour of love for all involved.
